Rock music is way too broad a term. U2 and Bruce
Springsteen are "rock", but they're not what I listen to. Most of
what I enjoy can be categorized into one of the following:
So, there you have it... I like heavy metal, which isn't particularly a trendy thing to say. However, if you know your music, a lot of what most people would call "metal" really isn't. I'm a bit of what you'd call a completist. If I really like a particular group, I'll go to great lengths to track down their complete catalog. I have too many favorite artists to attempt a complete list here. However, here's some of my all time favorites: AC/DC AC/DC is really two different music styles. With Bon Scott, they were in the blues-rock camp. Their first few albums with Brian Johnson were heavy metal. Lately, they've been returning to their blues roots. W.A.S.P. W.A.S.P. is another group that spans two musical styles. Their first few albums were typical 80's L.A. metal. Starting with "Headless Children", W.A.S.P.'s sound changed to a massively powerful, yet melodic "Wall Of Sound", which I prefer. Monster Magnet Monster Magnet is another "Wall Of Sound" band. They've been all over the hard rock map in terms of style. Unlike a lot of fans, I prefer their newer stuff. Guns'N'Roses Break them down, and they're a blues-rock band. When they fire on all cylinders, they're the penultimate Rock'N'Roll band. Iron Maiden The most technically proficient of the "New Wave Of British Heavy Metal" bands. Still cranking after nearly 20 years. Joe Satriani: The most technically amazing guitar player I've ever heard. Other "Guitar Gods" take lessons from him. Other favorite "Rock" artists that don't make the top five, but I'm still a huge fan of include:BuckCherry With that, we're at the end of the tour. Hope you enjoyed it, and feel free to write with comments! |
