Paying The Bills

I currently work for Microsoft as a developer on the Visual Studio team.  Working for Microsoft is crazy!  (In a good way.)  There's so much going on that it's hard to wrap your head around even a fraction of it..

Prior to Microsoft, I was a software architect for the NuMega Lab of Compuware, in Nashua, NH.  This meant dreaming up the big picture in my head, and helping to code the particularly nasty parts.  My biggest legacy at Compuware/NuMega is the BoundsChecker product.  BoundsChecker is very well known within the Windows development community.  What's BoundsChecker do?  It helps programmers find bugs in their code.  After BoundsChecker, I've worked on the Distributed Analyzer team.

Sometimes I think work is daycare for adults.   Remember the earlier picture of me with the paper airplane?  That was from an "emergency" team meeting called one morning at Compuware.

Another aspect of my career is advanced research to find new directions where our software can go.   When the occasional nasty bug pops up, I'm often called in because I have talent for tracking down problems.  (OK, I confess.  Some of them were of my making <g>)
